Polyester film backing with a translucent green pigmented silicone adhesive.

3M™ Polyester Tape 8402, is ideal for masking in high temperature applications and adheres well to silicone coated surfaces. The green color and silicone adhesive make for easier identification and application when splicing silicone treated paper. Application ideas: Masking edges of overlap seams in metal bonding process where the excess epoxy (flash) flows on the tape Protective tape reduces scratches during handling prior to bonding operations Holding of parts or vacuum bags during bonding operation Maskant for metal in acid or caustic chemical milling baths Paint mask for areas subject to higher temperature bake cycles Splicing of silicone liners and papers Splicing of films subject to high temperatures This tape functions well as a masking tape or in splicing operations, such as splicing of silicone liners and papers and films subject to high temperatures. Clean Application and Removal One of the main reasons why this product is known and trusted for use in so many industries is because of its broad temperature compatibility. The pressure sensitive silicone adhesive is ideal for high temperatures up to 400°F (204°C) with clean removal during high-temperature masking operations. This product can also be used in temperatures as low as -60°F (-50°C). This represents superior heat resistance when compared with acrylic adhesives.
